These discs were lent for copying by Obie Maupin via Sophie Tipton and Charles Wolfe. The date and place of the original recordings is unknown.

Scope and Content:

Reel to reel tape copy of 10 acetate "home recordings" made at Poplin's Crossroads, TN near Shelbyville, date unknown. Among the performers listed on the labels of the original discs were Faris Smith (fiddle), John Dunn (banjo), Thomas H. Lynch (vocal), Marvin R. Faris (guitar and vocal), Rose Cook (guitar), and Walter Douglas (banjo and vocal). There is also a recording of Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs which according to an announcement on the disc was recorded from "Fun and Frolic Time--WIIN, Lewisburg, TN".
