CNN filmed this dramatization in Murfreesboro on December 12 and sent the final production to CPM.
 

Scope and Content:

Actor Tim Lynch portrays Alexis de Toqueville in reenacting a historic trip de Toqueville took through Tennessee in 1831-1832. Lynch and CPM director Paul Wells discuss and debate American music, especially in regards to aesthetics, tune repertoires, cultural backgrounds and influences; they also compare American forms to European music. Bruce Nemerov (banjo, guitar) of CPM and James Bryan (fiddle) play tunes for entertainment and illustration: jigs, waltzes, hornpipes, marches, etc. Mike Leahy, of WAPB radio, Murfreesboro, hosts the program.
